Product History:
Folk head scarves or shawls with delicate floral folk patterns and bohemian style. This traditional Portuguese scarf is now high-fashion. To cut a long story short, in the Viana de Castelo region (north of Portugal), this colorful scarf is part of the traditional costumes and is worn by women around the shoulders and on the head during village celebrations.
From the 19th century, for generations, the teaching of handicrafts was entrusted to the young girls who embroidered to conceive, in addition to the trousseau, their own traditional Viana Costume (Traje à Vianesa).
Because of the extraordinary beauty and delicacy of its embroidery, and all that it represents in terms of artistic creativity and the work that underlies, the Viana Costumes are surely one of the most emblematic costumes of Portugal.
